Age: 29

A bit about yourself (job, hobbies, background etc):
Qualified accountant by day, runner by night! Also finding some time in between running 10 times a week to see my fiancée, fellow Barrow Runner Jo Robinson.

Years in running and other sports:
Having messed about with a bit of running at school together with playing football, cricket I then had several very successful years playing lawn bowls of all things! My sister – Coach Emma – had the good fortune (I entered her in the ballot without her knowing) to get into the London Marathon in 2008. That mean I had to find a charity place to run as well. Getting 3:09, having wanted to break 4 hours I decided to have another shot & see if I could break 3 hours. I joined Barrow in October 2008 together with Emma, closely followed by the rest of the family & none of us have looked back since.

What is your best/worst training session
Favourite – 20 * 500m off 60 seconds recovery or Yasso 800's.
Worst – Long Steady Runs over 20 miles alone.

Favourite training snack
None. Post training – skimmed milk & a slice of cheese.

Sports person you most admire and why?
Emil Zátopek – gold in the 1952 Olympics in the 5000 metres, 10000 metres & then the marathon! That won't be done again. He was renowned for how hard he trained & the look of agony on his face more or less from the start of a race.

What are your training aims for the year 2011/2012
Top 15 GB finish at the VLM (target time's a closely guarded secret!)
68:00 half marathon.
The rest of 2012 will be planned around our honeymoon!

Top training tip
Don't shirk the miles! As they say, make the easy runs easy & the hard runs hard.
